Want to run the Jazz Society next year?

As you may well know it’s that time of year when the current Jazz Society personnel have to relinquish our power to make way for you young’uns to take over. With this in mind we are writing to encourage anyone who’s interested in running for a position to let us know so we can arrange an election to take place. Obviously there are only a limited number of positions on offer so it may be worthwhile for those of you who wish to run to pick one position and perhaps a back-up option just in case. The posts available are:-
1) President
2) Vice-President
3) Treasure
4) Social Secretary
5) Publicity Officer
Most are self-explanatory but you can also have a look at the list of current committee members for fuller descriptions.
The plan is to hold an AGM by the end of April, probably next week. Like last year, and keeping with the aims of the Jazz Society, we’re hoping to keep the election as informal and relaxed as possible. When we ran for our positions we did it in Mooch over a pint! All we ask is that if you want to run, could you simply give a talk of a couple of minutes describing what it is you would like to do to help the Jazz Society improve in the next year. That’s all!
The benefits of running for a post in a university society like ours are fairly obvious. You get to meet lots of interesting new people whilst enjoying some quality music…..it could be worse. And best of all it’s a chance for you guys to experience some ENJOYABLE responsibilities before you head off into the big bad world!
So if you’re even a little bit interested in running for a position do let us know. We completely support you. -
Jazz magazines now available in Hallward Library

As we informed you in an email sometime ago, we have purchased the subscription of two major jazz magazines- JazzWise and JazzUK and have made them available in Hallward Library. You can find them on the second floor in the periodicals section, stack 90 "PN". Enjoy! -
